This feels like an arcade game

Clearly a lot of effort in this game! I don't really have much to say. The soundtrack is nice.

Intrapath responds:

Happy to hear you enjoyed it! A lot of love went into this from everyone on the team, so it's great to hear that :)

I appreciate the effort to make the game look as terrible as possible. Thanks for giving me what cheap game developers used to make!

...

Na I'm kidding, it's fucking beautiful!

Personally, am not really used to fast paced style games or the controls. But it's really hard to hate the game considering that it's actually good in terms of gameplay. I can only imagine how long it took to make all those levels.

I also feel you on the Godot HTML5 issues, I attempted to export a web build for an upcoming game I am working on and it's relieving to see someone else encounter the same lag spike issue. Go ahead and take a break! You deserve it!

Edit: Just for some context, I am using Godot 4. However, I am using the "Compatibility" renderer and I would recommend tinkering with different settings to be sure.

Edit 2: Score lowered due to bad controls

kaiakairos responds:

thanks!!
godot 4 came out this morning, and i hear its got a more performant html5 export,, I'm gonna have to try it out for my next project I think....
i've already taken too much of a break though, i need a project to fiddle with to keep me sane. luckily i have a fun little idea that hopefully shouldn't take me too long to put together

Kinda boring without a friend. Could you add the ability to compete with a robot?

Edit: Expected a different work around but it works.

Edit2: I see you've updated the game for a second time, I like the improved Ui and addition of music. Wound be nice if the music looped.

Edit3: the game's narration is now broken and no music. Me sad :,(

Huenah responds:

music loops now ;)

Don't let the negative comments deter you away from game making. I am sure you will get better at it as time goes on.

But I mean, you should still listen to the people. It's just I understand it's not easy to take criticism, especially for an indie dev that is responsible for multiple tasks at once.

Markanime responds:

Thanks for thinking of me, Icelogist. Negative comments will always appear, but thankfully there are also positive ones like yours.
And as you mentioned, I'm also taking notes on the good and the bad.

Man, I really like the concept of this! But it can get annoying as hell when trying to play on a laptop with just a trackpad and the camera isn't great. I know this game may have been created for desktops but it feels like trying to control a car without the steering wheel. Oh, and I am also a Firefox user. (I got stuck at level 13 because I couldn't shoot the enemy behind the wall in time.)

3p0ch responds:

I feel for you; whenever my USB mouse's battery dies and needs to be replaced I'd rather just say "welp can't do any more work for now" than have to use my trackpad for anything.

If Firefox is doing the drift thing when you capture the mouse/trackpad then hopefully zoom adjustment or fullscreen fixes it.

I found the enemy spawning system (kinda) frustrating, a lot of the time they would spawn very closely and would instakill you, the other feedback I have is that the enemies are pretty OP which only adds more annoyance than challenge. My fix is if you don't want a health system make the level bigger otherwise just nerf the enemies.

But let me end this on a good note: Even if I think the enemies are pretty OP I still think this can be still fun once you master the controls, it feels like your a god... Until you get kicked in the face by a flying enemy.
